Kuchipudi, originating from the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, is a well-known classical dance had its origin in the folk tradition. Brisk movements and expressions coupled with rhythmic virtuosity and colorful costumes distinguish Kuchipudi from other classical dance traditions. Unlike other classical dance traditions, Kuchipudi places a strong emphasis on narrative storytelling, with dancers portraying a wide range of characters from Hindu mythology and epics such as the Ramayana and Mahabharata.
